CABITA Officially Becomes an Affiliate of IATEFL

CABITA to the world!

The Cameroon Bilingual Letters Teachers’ Association (CABITA/ASEBIC) is pleased to announce its formal admission as an Associate Member of IATEFL (International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language).

This important partnership represents a significant milestone for CABITA and its members. It creates a stronger link between English language educators in Cameroon and the wider international community of teachers, teacher educators, researchers and professionals working in English language teaching. Through this relationship, CABITA will have greater opportunities to engage with international professional networks, exchange ideas and experiences, access professional development opportunities, and contribute to broader conversations on the teaching and learning of English.

The Associate Membership Agreement is effective from 10 June 2026 until 9 June 2029. Over this three-year period, CABITA looks forward to developing meaningful professional relationships with IATEFL and its wider network while promoting excellence, collaboration and continuous professional development among Teachers of English as a Foreign Language in Cameroon.

One of the immediate benefits of the partnership is that CABITA members can join IATEFL at the special discounted rate of £27. This gives members the opportunity to join an international professional community and benefit from the resources, networking opportunities, and professional activities associated with IATEFL membership. We are currently negotiating a further reduction to make it even more affordable for our members.

CABITA considers this partnership an important step towards expanding international collaboration and creating new opportunities for its members. It also reflects the Association’s commitment to professional growth, innovation and the advancement of English language teaching in Cameroon.

We warmly welcome this new partnership with IATEFL and look forward to a productive, enriching and lasting collaboration from 2026 to 2029 and even beyond. Special thanks to the current President of CABITA, Mrs Magne Fogoum Estelle Carine, for negotiating and signing this special agreement with IATEFL. Stay tuned for more details on the partnership agreement and how CABITA members can benefit more from it.
