Who We Are?
Our Mission
Our mission is to promote excellence in bilingual education, support teachers through professional development programmes, and foster collaboration with the Cameroon government, other organisations, institutions, and NGOs in and out of the country, and, of course, among its members.
Some activities carried out /organised by CABITA
CABITA engages in and organises various activities, both on-site and online, to achieve its objectives and support teachers of bilingual letters and their learners.
1. Workshops and Training Sessions: Regular organisation of workshops and training sessions for teachers to enhance their teaching skills, share best practices, and stay updated on new methodologies.
2. Conferences and Seminars: Hosts conferences and seminars on bilingual education. The first national conference on bilingual education was organised by CABITA in Yaounde in August 2021. CABITA members also took an active part in the organisation of the International Conference on Official Languages in Cameroon, at the University of Douala in December 2023.
3. Teaching Resources Development: Develops and shares teaching resources, such as schemes, lesson plans, worksheets, and assessment tools, to support teachers in their daily work.
Our Main Objectives
The main objectives of CABITA are :
- Improve students’ performance in the two official languages, by upgrading their language competences ;
- Improve on teaching methodologies and practices in bilingual education ;
- Provide a platform for teachers to exchange experience and best practices ;
- Enhance the quality of English and French language instruction ;
- Encourage scientific and pedagogic research ;
- Collaborate with educational authorities and stakeholders to shape bilingual education, in order to build real bilingual individuals while completing their secondary education.
